DrivePop Briefcase – Cloud Storage SYNC Drive

Your Cloud Drive That Is Available Anywhere! SYNC, Store and Share Files!

What is DrivePDrivePop Briefcase Cloud Driveop Briefcase?

Looking for a Google Drive or Dropbox alternative that costs less? DrivePop Briefcase (SYNC) is our flexible and innovative access-anywhere product, that lets you access your files wherever you go, and see the same files on all of your PCs. It is storage space on our servers that can be used to keep files synched across multiple locations, or to simply store files online without keeping a copy on your local machine.

As it is shared between all of your computers, and accessible from anywhere online, it is a great storage location to put the files that you use most regularly.

The DrivePop Desktop software can be set to keep your Briefcase files on your hard drive as well as online, and you can access them at any time through a drive on your computer or through any online browser.

Once the software is installed you can use your Briefcase files just like any normal file on your computer. Because these files can be locally cached on your hard drive, as well as online, you will be able to use them when you’re not connected to the internet.

You can use files in your Briefcase like any normal file, but with the added benefit that if you change a file on one computer it is automatically updated on all the other computers with the same DrivePop account. You can view, edit or add files to your Briefcase anywhere in the world from your web browser.

I wish you would offer a trial for briefcase. I am very interested in adding it to my basic account, but it is hard to pay for a whole year in advance for a service you have not even tested.

    • Rob Boirun October 5, 2013 | Reply

Currently we offer a risk free 30 day money back guarantee on this. So you would need to purchase the service but you basically have 30 days to give it a trial.

Can I use this with my Google Chromebook 11 or will this only work with a Windows or Mac product. I’d rather use your service than Google Drive. Thanks.

    • Right now the backup software is only for Win/Mac. There are plenty of requests in for backup of Android/iOS and development is looking at that.

please email me when you open up the monthly billing. i don’t need a back up service i need raw storage that i don’t have to keep on my computers external drive, storage where i can upload to you and delete from my drives .. this is exactly what I’m looking for.

I currently have a single lifetime backup account on DrivePop, how would the 512G briefcase affect my account if I have more than 512G backup?

    • NO effect as the Briefcase is a separate service but it’s still part of the same software to make managing both the backup account and the Briefcase account easier.

Is there a file size / file type / folder depth restriction for briefcase?

I am interested in this to host video files i want to stream to different locations.
I want one address for each file to point to.
I thought the basic account would do that, but it didn’t. Now I am thinking this will do that, but I need to know for sure, before pulling the trigger.

    • Rob Boirun January 24, 2014 | Reply

Yes with the files in this Briefcase drive, there would be one address that would point to the file that you have made public. This service is ideal for this.

“Unthrottled bandwidth” means no restrictions on download bandwidth?

I’ve uploaded all of my files to LiveDrive, and now I’ve purchased a year’s subscription to Briefcase. I would like to move a number of my files over to my briefcase account to make sure that they’re always going to be there, so I can use it to “send” large files to friends, etc. Do I have up upload each of those files from my computer to briefcase (again!) or can I move them over from my already-backed-up livedrive files?

    Thanks!

    Michael

This is one of the benefits of having both services: Backup and Briefcase. If you have already uploaded the files via Backup you can easily add that to your Briefcase drive by going into your online cloud portal and click on the Backup tab. Navigate to the file and from the selection box choose, Copy To Briefcase. 1-3 seconds later the file will be in your Briefcase drive. No need to upload it again.

Copying from Backup to Briefcase works great. Big time saver. However, I have already copied some files just to Briefcase. Is there any way to copy them now to Backup? (of course without uploading again) Thanks!

        • Rob Boirun April 22, 2014 | Reply

If a file is already in Briefcase and you want to add to Backup then you would need to do this via the backup client by selecting the file. Because deduplication is used on the servers the already uploaded file will be listed under your backup without having to upload the file again.

          • BruceR April 22, 2014 |

Suggestion worked great! Real easy, and no need to upload twice! Thanks for the quick (and very helpful) response.

What if more than 2 tb are needed?

    • Rob Boirun January 30, 2014 | Reply

The Briefcase service can be any size you need. For each TB above 2 it would be an additional $40 a year.

    No versioning in Briefcase?

  14. Andre April 25, 2014 | Reply

You can modify files from different computer. Do you manager conflicting modification (same file modified from two different place).

    • Rob Boirun April 25, 2014 | Reply

You can access your Briefcase file anywhere online or if you download and install the software client. If installing the software is not an option where you are then you can use the built in document editor that is part of the online solution to edit and save the document. The cloud service will keep a copy of both in case you need to revert to the older version.

    Hello,
I saw that in a profesionnal usage. Two collegues (A & B) modify same file starting from the same original version. A save file first, and B one hour later. By doing this he will overwrite modification done by A.
On DropBox for instance in a such situation, file save by B is automatically marked “filename – conflicted with modification done by A”. So you have in your folder “F” and “F-in conflict…” so you have to merge files manually, but you have the information that something appends.
Do you propose a similar feature?

    How sharing works?
Can I share with anyone who doesn’t have DrivePop account?
Will a URL link be provided to the people who is being shared?
Can I add restriction to the people who can access the share?
Can I share folders as well as files?
Can the people who I share with have write access to my shared folder? Or can I set to read-only and write permission?

    • Rob Boirun May 24, 2014 | Reply

      All great questions Peter.

Can I share with anyone who doesn’t have DrivePop account?
Yes, the users does not have to have a DrivePop account. So you can share with anyone you want.

Will a URL link be provided to the people who is being shared?
Yes, people are given a unique url for the files being shared. You have the option of making the file public or private where the user will be sent a login.

Can I add restriction to the people who can access the share?
Yes, like above – you have the option of making public or private.

Can I share folders as well as files?
      Yes

Can the people who I share with have write access to my shared folder? Or can I set to read-only and write permission?
The only option is read only and they have the ability to download the file/folder. But they can not upload back unless they have their own Briefcase account.
